I’m Amélia, an English specialist and former AQA examiner with over ten years’ experience in education. I regularly train and support teachers in their classroom practice.
I love helping students find their voice and develop the confidence to take their next step in writing, exams and beyond.

MY EXPERIENCE
As Head of English, I’ve led and line managed English departments. I’ve also worked in a school ranked in the top 2% nationally for student progress.
My background in literacy, EAL and supporting a range of learning needs helps me recognise where your child needs support or greater challenge.
As a Director of Sixth Form, I’ve supported students through A-levels, EPQ, university applications and career choices, helping them develop critical thinking, independence and confidence in their next steps.

HOW I TEACH
My teaching is rooted in enjoyment, creativity and critical thinking. I want your child to feel comfortable asking questions, exploring ideas and discovering what they enjoy about English.
Learning alongside others gives students the chance to build friendships, hear different perspectives and realise they don’t have to get everything right first time.
THE ENGLISH CURRICULUM
I’ve designed and sequenced English curricula with resources tested and refined in the classroom. Here’s how that shapes your child’s learning:
Oracy means learning to express ideas through speech and listening. Students explain their interpretations, consider other viewpoints and choose evidence before turning their thinking into written answers.
I break tasks into manageable steps, using model answers, sentence starters and vocabulary banks. This scaffolding is adapted to your child and gradually reduced as they become more independent.
Retrieval practice and spaced revisiting help learning stick. Challenge tasks stretch students’ thinking, while grammar and spelling corrections, translated key words and handwriting support are used where helpful.

I explain what works, show your child what to change and give them time to try again. After the intensive, your parent summary explains their strengths and what to practise next.
School-funded GCSE English intervention and EAL programmes, with assessment, tailored teaching and progress reporting. Delivery and fees agreed separately.
